SPOTLIGHT ON BUFFALO, AS HUTCH-TECH HIGH SCHOOL
WINS NATIONAL COMPETITION
JROTC Cadets Emerge as Champions from a Field of over 1500 Competitors

The light of a national victory was shining on Buffalo as the JROTC team from Hutch-Tech High School went to Washington, DC, and emerged winners from a field of 1511 competitors.

In an interview, the team members reflected on the lessons they learned that made them champions. They had an “in it to win it” attitude. When they got to the final, they performed with confidence. They applied the STEM leadership skills taught to them by 1st Sergeant Steve Frazier. They felt the satisfaction of participating in something bigger than themselves. It was not about the individual. It was about unity, teamwork, and being part of something bigger than themselves, they reported.

Lessons learned as part of JROTC have these students poised to be the leaders that Buffalo needs to carry the city and the country through the challenging times ahead. Principal and BCSA member Gabrielle Morquecho can be justifiably proud of her cadets and their leader, Sergeant Frazier.
