The Buffalo News calls the Emerson School of Hospitality downtown Buffalo’s best kept dining secret. Why? Because the student prepared meals there are of high quality at a low price. https://buffalonews.com/2019/10/15/trainees-dish-up-downtown-lunch-deals-like-steak-and-2-sides-for-12/
On the menu the day the News visited was New York Strip Steak, crunchy frizzle-fried onions and two sides for $11.95. Alternate menu items were seafood manicotti, roast leg of lamb or crab cakes. The regular menu is extensive, highlighting soup and a wide range of breakfast and lunch items.
The Emerson program is so successful that a second site is opening next year. Principal Debbie White Stokes and her staff keep a watchful eye on the student chefs and servers. Keeping standards high and emphasizing customer service is a culinary education that is readying the over 400 current students for careers in hospitality.
