Buffalo's Harvey Austin NYS "School of Character"

Reading, writing, and arithmetic are essential, but the administrators at Harvey Austin School have decided to “make character count,” too.    The teachers are rallying behind the initiative begun by Principal Demario Strickland and Assistant Principal Cassandra Gasbarrini.

School of Character” is to have Harvey Austin be a place where its students feel safe and supported and then enjoy sharing in kindness, trustworthiness, caring, responsibility and citizenship.   This effort has been so successful that Harvey Austin has been recognized as a New York State School of Character, a singular honor for the Buffalo District.

Administrators Strickland and Gasbarrini know that a positive atmosphere sets the stage for academic achievement.   Congratulations to them for making character count.
