Retroactive pay is on the way for members of AFSA Local 6, the Boston Association of School Administrators & Supervisors (BASAS).
The announcement came during the union’s April 29 membership meeting, where leaders confirmed that eligible members will see retroactive payments reflected in their paychecks on Friday, May 8. The payments apply to current BASAS members as well as those who have since moved into other district positions.
The retroactive compensation dates back to September 1, 2024, the start of the updated contract period. For retirees, payments will be issued by mail, with checks expected to be sent on May 7, 2026.
The adjustments are tied to the SY24–27 salary agreement and include increases for both the 2024–25 and 2025–26 school years. The retroactive period runs from September 1, 2024 through March 6, 2026, with new salary rates taking effect the week of March 9 and first appearing in the March 27 paycheck.
How much each member receives will depend on individual circumstances. Those who were active as of September 1, 2024 are eligible for retroactive pay covering the full period. Members who started after that date will receive prorated amounts based on their start date. In cases where members held more than one BASAS role during the period, payments will reflect separate calculations for each position.
Union officials are encouraging members to review their paystubs carefully once payments are issued. Questions about specific calculations should be directed to the district’s payroll office.
The retroactive payments mark a significant step in implementing the SY24–27 contract. One final phase remains, as the School Department reviews edits previously submitted by BASAS. Once finalized, the full agreement will be shared with members. In the meantime, the memorandum of agreement remains available for review.
